CFIA issues health alert for certain smoked fish

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to eat certain Euromax Foods brand smoked fish products.
The agency says the products may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum bacteria.
Toxins produced by the bacteria may cause botulism — a life threatening illness.
The affected products — including smoked herring, mackerel, rainbow trout, white fish and halibut — have been sold only at Euromax Foods at 190 Boivard Drive in Brampton.
The best before dates range from Dec. 21 to Dec. 28.
The agency warned that food contaminated with the toxin won't necessarily look or smell spoiled.
There have been no reported illnesses, the agency said.
