Heinz recalls strained meat baby food

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning people not to consume certain Heinz Strained Meat baby food products because some jars have a glass deformity that could break off during normal use. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume certain Heinz Strained Meat baby food products because some jars have a deformity in the glass that could break off during normal use.
The recall affects strained beef, chicken and lamb with broth in 100-millilitre jars that were distributed nationally. The products have the following product codes and expiry dates:
- Strained beef with broth: 0 571650 0 0081, 2013JA08; 0 571650 0 0981, 2013AL07.
- Strained chicken with broth: 0 571660 7 0091, 2013JA09; 0 571660 7 0491, 2013FE18.
- Strained lamb with broth: 0 571670 4 0501, 2013FE19.
There have been no reported injuries associated with the consumption of these products, the CFIA said Thursday.
The manufacturer, Heinz Canada of Leamington, Ont., is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA said it is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
