Nestle Canada is recalling Nescafe brand espresso instant coffee crystals because the product might contain small shards of glass.

The company and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are warning consumers not to use the product, which is subject to a voluntary recall.

The instant coffee crystals are sold in 100-gram glass jars with a black sleeve bearing the universal product code number 5500065052. All lot codes are affected.

The product was imported from France and distributed throughout Canada.

The food inspection agency says there have been no reported injuries linked to consumption of the product.

Britain's Food Standards Agency has also issued a recall order.

"We will change the packaging format before re-introducing the product to the market," Nestle Canada said.

Consumers who have the Espresso product should contact Nestle Consumer Services at 1-800-387-4636 for reimbursement.
