Toronto's H1N1 clinics are winding down. Three will close on Tuesday night, with the remaining five closing down after Sunday's clinic hours end. (Canadian Press) Toronto is closing three of its H1N1 clinics, effective Wednesday, as the number of people looking for the vaccination dwindles.
Five other clinics will remain open until the end of the week to give both H1N1 and regular flu shots.
"The traffic at the clinics located in the four civic centres and at Metro Hall continues to be steady. These clinics will remain open through the weekend, offering both H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccinations. The three other clinics have seen a drop in attendance, and are ready to close," said Toronto Public Health official Dr. Barbara Yaffe in a statement.
The three centres scheduled to close at the end of the day on Tuesday are Timothy Eaton Business and Technical Institute, North Toronto Memorial Community Recreational Centre and North Kipling Community Recreational Centre.
Clinics at Metro Hall, East York Civic Centre, North York Civic Centre, Etobicoke Civic Centre and Scarborough Civic Centre will remain open until the end of the day on Sunday.
All of the clinics are supplied with both H1N1 and regular flu vaccine.
Toronto Public Health has also announced that some clinics will reopen in January in order to give young children a second dose of the H1N1 vaccine.
The dates, times and locations of those clinics are still to be determined.
