Copenhagen blog: Climate press release hoax

Hoax press releases circulated earlier today claiming that Canada had committed to drastic greenhouse gas emission cuts.
It's unclear who is behind the prank. One report in a Toronto Star blog temporarily linked the Canadian Youth Delegation to the hoax but took down the allegation later in the day.
We asked the youth delegates to weigh in on the matter. This is what Kimia Ghomeshi, Canadian Youth Climate Coalition, campaign co-ordinator wrote:
"Well, initially when we heard about the press release we were surprised and a bit skeptical because their new position sounded too good to be true. But from emails going back and forth in the NGO community we came to believe it was real. And now it's clear that it was not. It's unfortunate that Canada doesn't have such strong targets and it was in fact a prank. This has created a lot of buzz in the Bella Center and highlighted how unambitious Canada's greenhouse gas reduction targets and commitment to adaptation is.
It was generally a pretty elaborate stunt and it will be interesting to see how it shapes Canada's position and image here--if it does at all. We have been hearing some rumours around the conference centre about the reactions from other delegations already."

A hoax within a hoax.
Very nice. You enviro-cultists are a complicated bunch.
It's a tangled web you weave ...
I am glad to see that the CBC is promoting and supports the illegal activity of the yes men, this is deeply concerning.
Our integerity is being chanllanged and our news is supporting it, this hoax is a spin to the real problem and that is the real polluter the US and there love of coal which is 10 times worse, but why look at the truth when there is someone else to blame, and oh yaa why not pick on AB when Ontairo pollutes with coal to, but shhhhhh no one needs to know the truth lets just keep up the witch hunt.
WHAT A LOAD OF POLITICAL CRAP!!!. Lets focus on cleaning up our enviroment, and yes that means Canada's enviroment not Chinas wealth and India's wealth no I mean enviroment change and healthier cities not wealthier transfers.
I am so sick of the politics, and as for Al God (gore) I guess when you can't beat Bush you should find a new career and fear mongering is probally right up his alley. Lets not forget he is a politican first and that means a certified liar.
