View from the street: An Iranian sends protest photos

Submitted by Mahmoud

About/Bio:I am from Esfahan, Iran.

My take: I took part in a protest on June 15, 2009 against Iran's presidential election that put Mahmoud Ahmadinejad back into power. We want to say NO to him and his government. This is not what people want. They changed the result of the election to make Ahmadinejad the president.

In previous elections, they used to announce the result of counting the votes from 4 a.m. in the day after the election. And they used to announce the result by their locations. For example they used say Esfahan had two million eligible Voters and X percent voted for Mr. X and Y percent for Mr. Y.

This time, they didn't report the result in details. They just said, Mr. Ahmadinejad received 63 per cent. And now, after three days, they are revealing the result in details. They are making fake numbers. We are not stupid!!!

We had the demonstration in different parts of the city. I couldn't take good photos, because it was so dangerous for me to take out my camera. If the police get me, they mark me as a spy and I would be in big trouble.

The Police forces and Basjiees beat and tortured people by using tear gas and some unknown equipment.

Please keep my name private. Just say, Mahmoud from Esfahan. A friend of mine in Canada sent me your website address and asked me to put my experience here.
