The question on everyone’s mind today was, "how will the financial crisis affect me?" So, that was our question tonight on Your Turn. How will you weather a recession?

Joining Suhana in studio tonight was Laurie Campbell from Credit Canada to discuss how bankruptcy rates will change, and offer tips on belt-tightening in tough economic times.

Joining us by Skype was Jana from Ottawa who said, as a Slavic journalist, she wasn’t as concerned as most Canadians because of the European banking system, but at the same time, was afraid of losing her apartment with the global economic slowdown. We also heard by phone - Narges from Gatineau, Que., said she felt a sense of panic from the Liberals, but calm from the Conservatives. Joe from Winnipeg said he wants politicians to promise and deliver.

We also heard from former Liberal finance minister Ralph Goodale, who, despite the rain, was campaigning door-to-door in Regina. People are worried, he said, and if the Liberals were elected would enact an immediate fix to regulation standards. The best outlook was one of optimism, he said.

A few emails:

I think Stephen Harper has been doing the exact thing a prime minister should be doing. He is saying things with an aim of minimizing economic panic, which is rampant.
George, Sooke B.C.

Everyone will be affected by a recession (if it happens) - it's just to what degree? Those who spent beyond their means are the ones who will be most greatly affected.
Gloria

While Harper may have a degree in economics he does not appear to have a world view for the future, a policy that addresses the future or a vision for Canada. Dion has a vision for Canada and a vision for Canada's place in the world.
