Tonight it was Your Turn to ask the questions about the economic crisis. What do you need to know? What do you want to understand better? We brought in Craig Alexander, deputy chief economist for TD Bank Financial Group, and Don Bayer, the president of MonsterMortgage.ca to help Suhana make the situation as clear as possible for investors and speculators alike.

Meanwhile, out on the campaign trail, NDP Leader Jack Layton called for a meeting of the party leaders to discuss the financial crisis, while Green Leader Elizabeth May sat down with the CBC's Peter Mansbridge to field an array of questions. Conservative Leader Stephen Harper promised a tax credit for children’s arts and noted he had contacted American leaders to discuss the proposed financial bailout over the weekend, and Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion urged a solution to nursing shortages.

We talked about other historic drops in the stock market, from the Great Depression in 1929, to Black Monday in 1987, and other dips, falls and plummets in the financial sector.

Here are a few emails we couldn’t fit in the show

Now that this mess has happened, I would like to know who is to blame... just a simple question... and needs a simple answer. Somebody is to blame, never mind the bailout in the States, or all the comments and meetings... Who is to blame for this mess?

I'm sure glad that I took my life savings out of the market last week!

Those ‘smart’ economists should have seen this coming. Then the bailout could have gone to the struggling homeowner. They could make their payments, retain their homes, values might not decline as much, the banks get their cash flow and then we avoid the size of this catastrophe. For a change we help the people at the bottom of the food chain.

Join Mark Kelley tomorrow at 7:30p.m. ET on CBC Newsworld for The X-Challenge as he moderates a town hall debate between representatives of the four major parties on the economic issues facing Canada in front of an audience of financially aware sales people. Take their survey to help them shape the questions!

We’ll be back to give you Your Turn on Wednesday before the French debate, and with Don Newman for a CBC News: Politics special.
