Career Background: Between degrees, spent a year as a ministerial assistant to a senior Saskatchewan cabinet minister. Began his legal career in Calgary, articling with law firm Milner and Steer (now Fraser Milner Casgrain). Later moved to Red Deer, becoming a litigator for Sisson Warren Sinclair. Moved to Edmonton in 1994 and began to specialize in insurance litigation, first with Braithwaite Boyle, and later with McCourt Law Offices. In 2005 became the executive director of the Progressive Contractors Association of Canada.
