Education: Holds a BA in social science from the University of Ottawa, and an MA in Canadian politics and political theory from the University of Alberta.

Career Background: Has worked for three members of Parliament, including former Edmonton Southwest MP Ian McClelland doing committee work, research, drafting legislation, media and public relations. Was a senior researcher for public relations firm First Past The Post.

Community Activities: Hockey coach, power-skating instructor and member of the Canadian Property Rights Research Institute Advisory Board.

Electoral History

Federal: Elected in Edmonton Southwest in 2000; in Edmonton-Leduc in 2004 and 2006.

Political History

Party: Was a member of the 1998 Reform Alberta Senate nomination committee. A volunteer for Dave Hancock's 1997 election campaign, a member of Rahim Jaffer's 1997 nomination campaign team and a volunteer for the 1995 Edmonton civic election. Former director of the Edmonton Strathcona Reform Constituency Association (1994).

Education: Earned a degree in physical education from the University of British Columbia in 1971 and a doctorate in physical education from the University of Alberta in 1994.

Community Activities: In recent years, involved in community initiatives with the homeless and working poor, arts and healing, and children's ministry. An environmental activist since her undergraduate years; part of the early battles of the Edmonton Friends of the North Environmental Society and continues to be a member.

Profession: Registered nurse, registered psychologist and university professor.

Career Background: Currently a professor of nursing at the University of Alberta. Has more than 25 years of senior administrative experience in Alberta’s health system and is the co-author and editor of a textbook on nursing leadership. Was elected to the council of the Alberta Association of Registered Nurses.

Community Activities: Former president of the Alberta Association on Gerontology and currently vice-chair of the board of Pro Coro Canada, Edmonton’s professional choir.
