Electoral History
Provincial: Was a member of the Western Canada Concept Party, and later of the Provincial Rights Association. Ran unsuccessfully as an independent candidate in Calgary-Mountain View in the 1982 provincial election when the PRA was formed too late to get official party status.
Federal: Elected in Calgary North in 1993 and in Calgary-Nose Hill in 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006.
Political History
Party: Founding member of the Reform party in 1987, chair of the executive council in 1987. Co-chair of the United Alternative policy development committee, and a member of the party expansion committee.
Cabinet: Appointed parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Finance in 2006. Named secretary of state, small business and tourism in a cabinet shuffle on Aug. 14, 2007.
Committee: Member of the Finance Committee and Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure of the Standing Committee on Finance.
Caucus: Member of the Conservative Caucus.
