Community Activities: Is setting up a ranch to help young men and women to get into a trade and find out what they are gifted at. Is working with a Celebrate Recovery Program for people struggling with addictions. Volunteered at a drug and alcohol detox center as a spirituality speaker and shares his testimony of a life from drugs and alcohol to a changed life. With the help of his family, he has directed a bible camp for seven years.

Community Activities: Was involved with the Rosewood Economic and Development committees from 1982 to 1986, has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1987, and has coached hockey and basketball. Is active in his church.

Federal: Was elected in Battlefords-Lloydminster in 1997, 2000 and 2004.

Party: Was active in the Reform party starting in 1989. Was on the board of directors for the Reform Constituency Association from 1992 to 1997. In 1993, was campaign manager for candidate Elwin Hermanson, as well as his constituency co-ordinator from 1994 to 1996.
Cabinet: Named Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism in 2006. Moved to the agriculture portfolio in a cabinet shuffle on Aug. 14, 2007.
