Career Background: Prior to her election, was employed as an economic development consultant for the province of Manitoba. Also served as director of WORKFORCE 2000, a provincial skills training program, and as director of the Winnipeg Core Area Initiative Employment and Training program.

Community Activities: Has worked on the Law Society of Manitoba as a lay bencher, the City of Winnipeg community and race relations committee, Rossbrook House, Jewish Child and Family Services and the Manitoba Association of School Trustees. Also served as a member of the Canadian delegation observing elections in Bosnia as part of an international effort.

Active in many social justice and community grassroots groups and causes, including the Winnipeg Global Night Commute and a march to raise awareness of child soldiers in Uganda.
