Also oversaw the opening of the Riel Tourism Bureau and served as president of the Caisse Populaire de Saint-Boniface. Former member of: the Winnipeg Library Foundation's board of directors; UNEVOC Canada's national advisory committee (a UNESCO project); national and regional small business advisory committees for the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.

Federal: Elected in St. Boniface in the May 2002 byelection. Re-elected in 2004 and 2006.
Political History
Cabinet: In February 2006, was named deputy whip and associate critic to the Western Economic Diversification/Pacific Gateway portfolio. Was parliamentary secretary to the deputy leader of the government in the House of Commons, to the minister responsible for official languages and to the minister responsible for democratic reform.
Committee: Served as member of the following committees: Industry, Science and Technology; Foreign Affairs and International Development; International Trade; Procedure and House Affairs; and Official Languages.
Caucus: Member of the Liberal caucus. Has served as chair of the Manitoba Federal Liberal caucus and chair of the Northern and Western caucus.
