She also is the medical editor for the Canadian Thoracic Society's clinical guidelines on pediatric and adult asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She has been a judge for the National Newspaper Awards and the Canadian Science Writers' Association journalism awards

Community Activities: Founding member and board member of Ve'ahavta: The Jewish Humanitarian and Relief Committee, has served on the boards of Nishma (an Orthodox Jewish think tank) and of the Canadian Science Writers' Association (CSWA). She is currently a member of the Toronto Renewable Energy Cooperative/WindShare and won the Big Sister of the Year - Group Program award in 2007 from Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto. Education: BA from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Laws from McGill University. Received honorary doctoral degrees from the universities of Ottawa, Windsor, York, McMaster, St. Mary’s, Niagara and British Columbia.

Career Background: Goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens, winning six Stanley Cups. Member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. He is considered one of the best goalies ever to play hockey. Served as president of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has written four best-selling books, has published numerous articles and created and hosted the CBC-TV six-part documentary Home Game.

Community Activities: Worked with numerous community and youth groups across the country and was Ontario Youth Commissioner from 1984 to 1986. In 1996, created a scholarship fund for students from foster homes and group homes to study at university or college. Sat on the boards of the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Vanier Institute of the Family and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.
