Currently works as the New Student Orientation and Commuter Services Officer for the Office of Admissions and Recruitment at Lakehead University as well as teaches school based outdoor education for the Faculty of Education. He also worked briefly as a tree planter and a raft guide.
Community Activities: Involved in various organizations since 1990, including the Red Cross, the Canadian Cancer Society, Easter Seals, the Children's Wish Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club and the Alzheimer's Society. Also a member of the Thunder Bay Association for Volunteer administrations and the Ontario College of Teachers. Co-chair of Lakehead's joint health and safety committee and director on the board for Lake Superior place, a grassroots community group fighting for the development of an ecologically sound building on Thunder Bay's waterfront.

Career Background: An ecologist, biologist, forester, and businessperson. His company, WildWaters Nature Tours & Expeditions Ltd., retails and wholesales canoes and kayaks, and has run a variety of wilderness adventures and ecotours from bases in Thunder Bay and Armstrong since 1976. A consultant on forestry and tourism, served as an adjudicator on the Province of Ontario Environmental Appeal Board from 1988 to 1997.
Community Activities: A board member and past president of the North of Superior Tourism Association. Has also served as a member of the boards of directors of Northern Ontario Tourist Outfitters, the Armstrong Wilderness Outfitters Association, and the Wildlands League. Past president of Environment North. Serves on both the Local Citizens Committee and Forest Management Planning Team for the Domtar-Armstrong Forest. Member of the Thunder Bay Remedial Action Plan, was co-founder/first co-chair of Lake Superior Binational Forum.
