She currently works the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ), the provincial liquor corporation, where she has been serving as a branch manager since 2003 and previously served as the director of SAQ.com and the co-ordinator of branch operations.

Career Background: Served as senior adviser to John Turner, justice minister and attorney general from 1968 to 1972. Has been a law professor at McGill University for 30 years and director of its human rights program. Also was a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at Yale. As a practitioner of constitutional and comparative law, he has litigated every section of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Founded Pointe St-Charles Legal Aid Clinic over 30 years ago. An international human rights lawyer, he served as counsel to former prisoners of conscience, Andrei Sakharov, Nelson Mandela, Jacobo Timmerman and Muchtar Pakpahan.. He later served as international legal counsel to imprisoned Russian environmentalist Aleksandr Nikitin, and Nigerian playwright and Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka. In 1992, he was appointed an officer of the Order of Canada. He is the only Canadian elected to the Paris-based Académie universelle des cultures, and was the first recipient of the Justice Walter Tarnopolsky Memorial Medal and the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award.
Community Activities: Founded Project Genesis, a community service storefront office in Mount Royal. Served as counsel to the National Coalition for Japanese-Canadian Redress and the Coalition for Women's Human Rights in Conflict Situations. Chaired the National Conference on Aboriginal Rights and the Canadian Justice System and co-chaired the Canadian Helsinki Watch Group. Is an officer of the Order of Canada and has received numerous justice and human rights awards locally, nationally and internationally.
