Education: Earned a law degree from Laval University in 1974 and passed the Quebec bar in 1975.
Profession: Lawyer
Career Background: Worked as a lawyer at Abitibi-Témiscamingue's legal centre after passing the bar in 1975.
Community Activities: Served as president of the Canadian Cycling Association from 1982 to 1992 and the International Commission of Mountain Biking in 1991. He was also a member of the legal team of the Canadian Olympic Committee, the administration counsel of the Canadian Federation of Sports, and the International Federation of Amateur Cycling. More recently, he served on the board of directors of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada and as president of the Barristers Association of Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Career Background: Began his career as a construction manager for the Department of Transport, where he worked from 1960 to 1966. Then he held the positions of trainer and representative for Pétrofina before going into business with Pétroles Grandmaître, where he managed up to 11 gas stations and over 60 employees from 1970 to 1994. In 2003, he started a career as a real estate agent.
Community Activities: Managed various organizations including the Rouyn-Noranda Optimist Club, the Club Richelieu, the Forum des citoyens de Rouyn-Noranda, the United Way, the Centre ressources jeunesse Rouyn-Noranda, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Jean Lapointe Foundation, Operation Red Nose, the Union des municipalités du Québec and the Conseil régional de développement Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

Municipal: Elected the mayor of the City of Rouyn-Noranda in 1994 and served until 2001, when he wanted to become a real estate agent.

Also chaired the Dr Jacques Paradis Hospital Foundation in La Sarre and the Quebec conference of health and social services boards. He also sat for three years on the National Advisory Board for Seniors.
