Education: Studied electricity at l'Ecole des métiers d'Amos and earned a certificate in labour relations and administration at l'Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Also took courses in labour health and security, and media relations.
Profession: Electrical worker, labour consultant
Career Background: He served as foreman of Ontario Hydro Kenora between 1970 and 1972, Melhorn Co. the following year, and L.D. Pilon until 1975 before returning to Melhorn Co. as superintendent. From 1977 to 1992, he served as labour relations counsellor of the FIPOE (Inter-Provincial Union of Electrical Workers). He then served as director general of the development assistance committee of communities in Senneterre until 1995. He recently served as a spokesman for Quebec's Economic Development Agency.
Community Activities: Served as secretary, treasurer and currently president of the Quebec Federation of Camping and Caravaning. Served on the board of the Manpower Vocational Training Commission between 1979 and 1989, and the Abitibi-Témiscamingue Regional Development Council between 1987 and 1992.

Federal: First elected in this riding in 2004 and re-elected in 2006.

Committee: Member of the standing committees on fisheries and oceans, Bill C-20, and aboriginal affairs and northern development.
