Also taught business law at the University of New Brunswick Saint John from 1984 to 1993. After leaving Parliament in 1997, he co-founded a public affairs-strategic business and government advisory company in Ottawa, Summa Strategies Canada, and served as its president. Currently, he is legal counsel to Clark, Drummie & Company, an Atlantic Canada law firm.
Community Activities: Served as director of the Aitken Bicentennial Exhibition Centre, Saint John Labour Community Services and the United Way of Greater Saint John. Also formerly served as chairman of CRSJ Radio and vice-chair of the Canadian Cancer Society. He also served as director of the Saint John Labour Community Services Inc., as well as a member of the board of advisers of the International Association for Students of Economic and Commercial Sciences (AIESEC), the Romero House Finance Committee, the National Committee on Lobbyists for the Canadian Bar, the Saint John Rotary Club and Friends of the London School of Economics.

Federal: First elected in 1993 in Fundy-Royal and defeated in 1997. Defeated in Saint John in 2000 and re-elected in 2004 and 2006.
Political History
Committee: Served as chair of the standing committees on industry from 1994 to 1995, on government operations in 1996, procedure and house affairs from 1996 to 1997, and the subcommittee on public safety and national security in 2004. Also served on the standing committee on access to information, privacy and ethics, and the standing committee on transport, infrastructure and communities.
Caucus: Founded and chaired the all-party sugar caucus from 1994 to 1997 and the all-party credit card caucus from 1996 to 1997. Named Official Opposition critic for cities and communities in 2007.
