He was active in the New Brunswick Teachers' Federation, the New Brunswick Principals' Council and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Community Activities: Served for many years as a director and president of Northumberland Cooperative Dairy. Involved also in farming and forestry, he has been a member of the Canadian Hereford Association for more than 30 years, and in the Northumberland Woodlot Owner's Association. He has been active in recreational development and the Miramichi salmon sports fishery.
