The rental apartment vacancy rate in Windsor for April was at five per cent.

That's above the provincial average of 2.8 per cent.

Overall, the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation said "stronger employment among younger households who typically rent and fewer rental households moving to home ownership supported rental demand in Ontario this spring."

Sudbury's rate was also five per cent, tied with Windsor for highest in the province.

Windsor had a vacancy rate of 6.3 per cent in April of 2013.

The average annual rent for a two-bedroom unit increased by 2.7 per cent in Ontario, versus three per cent this time last year.

A two-bedroom unit in Windsor till cost $801 per month.
