Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has been asked to investigate after a Windsor Police Service vehicle struck a pedestrian in Tecumseh.

The OPP received a report of a car hitting a pedestrian on Tecumseh Road East in Tecumseh at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Officers arrived and learned that a pedestrian was crossing Tecumseh Road when they were struck by a Windsor Police Service vehicle.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been notified and has invoked its mandate.

As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information.
