A Windsor man is facing multiple charges including attempted murder after a vehicle crashed into the porch of a house in the city's east end.

The collision occurred early Sunday morning in the 1600-block of Hickory Street.

Witnesses alleged the driver assaulted his common-law wife who escaped from the vehicle after an argument and was followed by the driver.

"I heard the tires pop first and I just assumed it was a crash when I just saw it was just him so I thought there was much more to the story," said  Neighbour Ashley Dupuis. "The guy was stuck in the house's porch. She was out already talking to police. The truck caught on fire and we couldn't get him out."

Windsor emergency crews had to extricate the 28-year-old man from the vehicle and was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
