Windsor man charged for running Detroit chop shop
Detroit Police told CBC News a 71-year-old Windsor man faces charges in Detroit for allegedly operating a chop shop and being in possession of stolen property.
The used auto parts store is in northwest Detroit.
"We went in, and the first car we looked at was stolen," said Sgt. Robert Wellman. "We proceeded to get a search warrant."
Wellman said they found 80 "straight stolen" cars, seven cars that were reported as car-jacked cars. Wellman said police are still looking at an additional 79 cars.
The Windsor man's name is not being released until his first court appearance.
Police learned of the shop from a tip.
That tipster is eligible for a $10,000 reward.
