An advertising campaign is paying off for the Windsor Public Library.
Approximately 400 people got library cards in Windsor in July alone. That represents a 40 per cent spike, and advertising shown at the movies gets the credit.
The library spent $20,000 on a campaign that aired before films at Cineplex Odeon theatres.
City Coun. Al Maghnieh, chair of the library board, said it was money well spent.

"The ads were very well received because they had some witty humour to them," Maghnieh said.
Cineplex Odeon agreed in the end to run the ad for an additional week.
"I remember being in one of the movies at Silver City and it came on and the patrons erupted in laughter to one of the ads," Maghnieh said.
The ad promoted the free video, music and e-book downloads the library offers.
Maghnieh said the library is considering new ads to encourage more people to use the library.
