Even without a floor to play on, the Windsor Express are planning for the National Basketball League of Canada's opening tipoff, scheduled for Nov. 2.

The team held an open tryout for its dance team Sunday.

Linda McCurdy is part owner of the company doing the search, which didn't yield a great number of dancers.

"Originally, next weekend was an invite-only call-back, but since we didn't have a very big turnout, we're hoping that the publicity we're getting this weekend will have the effect of having more people come out next weekend," she said. "So next weekend's actually going to be another open call for anybody who wants to come out and has any dance experience, 18 or over, graduated from high school, who would like to come out and have the chance to dance for the Windsor Express."

Tryouts will be held at NorthStar Cheer on Outer Drive.
