A Wheatley, Ont. man has been charged with 26 counts of theft and fraud, ending a three-month Ontario Provincial Police investigation.

Investigators allege Mark LaPorte, 37, stole more than $150,000 worth of machinery, fuel, tools and trailers in Windsor, Essex County, Chatham and Leamington.

LaPorte is charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, eight counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, four counts of mischief under $ 5,000 and three counts of theft under $5,000.

He also faces three counts of fraud under $5,000, four counts of theft over $5,000 and fail to comply with an undertaking.

Police said they have recovered about $110,000 worth of stolen property.

They've cleared 20 separate cases with LaPorte's arrest.
