Walkerville break-ins spark return of neighbourhood watch
The Olde Walkerville Residents Association in Windsor plans to re-introduce a neighbourhood watch program.
The proposal follows a rash of break-ins in the neighbourhood during the past two years.
Shane Mitchell, chairman of the association, said the goal is to make the neighbourhood safer by bringing back neighbourhood watch.
"Security's been on the mind of a lot of residents. It's certainly something people are concerned about," Mitchell said. "We want to take a proactive approach and get the neighbourhood involved."
For people interested in the neighbourhood watch program, an information meeting will be held Feb. 27 at the Willistead Manor Coach House
"People I have spoken with are pretty excited about it. A lot of people are enthusiastic to take part," Mitchell said. "I think it's going to be a really successful program, because of the positive reaction we've gotten so far."
