Unifor, Windsor Salt reach tentative new contract
Production and officer workers were schedule to strike
A tentative agreement has been reached between Windsor Salt and its unionized employees.
The two sides struck a deal at 1 a.m., about an hour after the midnight strike deadline.
Approximately 230 employees are represented by Unifor Local 1959 represents production workers while Local 240 represents office staff.
Both union executives are recommending their members accept the deal.
Unifor Local 1959 president Bill Wark called it "a tough set of negotiations."
The main sticking point was job security.
No details of the deals will be revealed until a ratification vote is held later this week.
