A U.S. freight ship loaded with iron ore pellets ran aground last night off the shore of Sarnia, Ont.
The U.S. Coast Guard got a call from the ship's captain at 10 p.m. ET. The captain said the ship had become stranded while heading south through Lake Huron en route to Cleveland.
The coast guard told those on the ship not to try to manoeuvre out of its situation.
American crews and Transport Canada now have to come up with a float plan to get the ship back moving.
No one was hurt and there are no reports of pollution or flooding.
Shipping lanes have not been disrupted.
