Swimming is not recommended at more than half the beaches in Windsor-Essex.
E. coli levels are between 100 and 1,000 parts per 100 millilitres of water at six of 10 local beaches.
Swimming is not recommended at Cedar Beach, Cedar Island Beach and Lakeside Beach, all in Kingsville; Seacliffe Beach in Leamington; Colchester Beach in Essex; and Holiday Beach in Amherstburg.
The highest count comes at Holiday Beach in Amherstburg.
The latest water samples were taken Wednesday and the recommendation remains in effect until next Friday, when latest test results are released.
Water samples are taken every Wednesday. Beach water sample results take up to two days to process.
The samples are sent to a public health lab in London, Ontario. Testing is done Thursday and the results are given to the Health Unit by Friday
