Sarnia police say a man faces "numerous charges" after three security staff members were stabbed outside a local nightclub this morning.

The stabbing happened just after 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to a police news release.

Police say there were people arguing inside the Exmouth Street establishment, which prompted security staff to escort them off the property.

A male suspect then stabbed the security staff members with a knife on Capel Street, police say.

Police say the victims each suffered multiple stab wounds. All were treated in hospital and later released.

The suspect was arrested.

Late Sunday morning, police issued a second news release indicating that the suspect faced charges of assault and assault with a weapon, among other criminal counts.
