Athletes participating in the International Children's Games in Windsor this year are looking for homes.

The games committee is encouraging anyone interested in billeting athletes to come forward.

Visiting athletes from more than 78 cities and 34 countries will be coming to compete, according to co-oganizer Nora Romero.

"As you can imagine, it's quite busy. We look forward to welcoming the community to be part of this," she said. "We're set. We're ready to do all of our fine tuning of our planning."

Organizers have to iron out hospitality, transportation and accommodation details.

The International Children's Summer Games' events start in August. Approximately 1,500 athletes will compete.

"It's really important. These athletes are coming to visit, and in the end, by adopting an athlete, [you] become ambassadors and understand and take pride in their community and extend that invitation and welcome," Romero said.
