Former OHL doctor sentenced 5 years for fraud, drugs

A former high profile physician for the Windsor Spitfires was sentenced Friday to five years in jail after being found guilty of 89 charges of fraud for writing bogus prescriptions.
Dr. Colin Sinclair, 65, committed the crimes between 2006-08 in Windsor, Ont.
Crown prosecutor Richard Pollock asked the judge to sentence Sinclair to "significant time" behind bars.
Sinclair was also charged with five counts of possession of narcotics with the purpose of trafficking, which "attracted the most significant sentence," according to Crown prosecutor David Foulds.
Sinclair has also been ordered to pay restitution to compensate insurance companies for the fraudulent prescriptions.
Foulds said police seized some of Sinclair's money. It may be used to pay his restitution if the court finds it was made through crime activities.
