Council to vote on buying $4.3M fire trucks

Windsor City Council is to decide Monday night whether to purchase four new fire engines totalling $4.3 million.
The new fire trucks would replace aging vehicles which do not meet all of the current standards.
Windsor's fire trucks are scheduled to be replaced every 15 years.
Administration is recommending council fund the purchase of two 95' aerial platform and two 70' aerial platform firefighting trucks.
Ford Garry Fire Trucks Ltd., based out of Manitoba, won the bid by default because it was the only company to submit a response.
The issue was brought to council on Nov. 4, 2012 and deferred because of concerns over a single bid.
