Police say man punched over Spitfires-Knights rivalry

A man from London was cut under his right eye and suffered a broken nose and chipped tooth.
Windsor Police say the Ontario Hockey League rivalry between the Windsor Spitfires and London Knights led to a man from London being punched in the face.
The alleged assault happened Saturday at 12:45 a.m. in the area of Pitt and Ferry streets.
Police say a 23-year-old man and his 21-year-old girlfriend, both from London, were visiting Windsor.
The victim asked an unidentified man if he could tell them their location in Windsor so that they could call for a cab. Police say suspect was polite at first but quickly became aggressive after learning that the couple was from London. Police say the suspect referred to the rivalry between the Spitfires and Knights before punching the victim in the face.
The victim was cut under his right eye and suffered a broken nose and chipped tooth.
The suspect is described as a black man, standing 5-10 and weighing 170 pounds. He is between 25 and 30 years of age with shaved short hair. He was wearing a black jacket, white undershirt, jeans and white running shoes.
