The Humane Society is looking for information about a case of animal cruelty.

On Tuesday, the Humane Society found three kittens in a duffle bag in the 700 block of Northwood Street in Windsor. The kittens were "extremely emaciated," the society said in a media release.

Two were dead. One was found alive but was hypothermic with barely a heartbeat and a temperature too low to register on the thermometer.

The kitten, now named Optimus, has improved dramatically and is on the road to recovery, the society said.

The kittens were found in a red and black Sport Tek duffel bag in an empty lot in the 700 block of Northwood in Windsor.

There are a number of houses nearby, and the Humane Society hopes someone saw the bag being abandoned.

Officials believe the bagged was left there on either Monday or early morning on Tuesday.

Anyone with information about who may have neglected and then abandoned these kittens is asked to call the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society investigations department at 519-966-5751, ext 16 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477.
