Windsor's unemployment rate continues to head in the right direction.
It fell to 9 per cent in September from 9.2 per cent in August.
At the start of the 2012 it was close to 11 per cent.
Windsor has relinquished the title of having the highest jobless rate among major Canadian cities, which is now Saint John.
Windsor is tied with Oshawa for the second highest unemployment rate in the country.
In September the government is reporting a net gain of over 31,000 new jobs in Ontario.
"These numbers show that Ontario is moving in the right direction," said Minister of Economic Development and Innovation Brad Duguid in a news release. "The McGuinty government will continue to do what it takes to grow our economy and help create jobs."
Almost half of all new Canadian jobs in 2011 were generated in the province.
