Windsor city council has to decide Monday night whether to advance money to a new residence for young homeless men and boys.
The facility on Langlois Avenue is waiting for funding from Ottawa and the province.
The people getting the home off the ground want an advance of $53,000 to help with programs until that money comes through.
Coun. Al Maghnieh said he can support the request.
"The risks associated with this program are minimal when you compare it with the benefits that would come out of this program," he said. "The federal government has committed to being a partner in this program and this program would see at-risk male youth integrated into education, volunteer work, finding employment."
There is a concern though that by council approving the request, it can set a precedent for other groups.
