The city of Windsor has already outlined its demands in the upcoming contract negotiations with its unionized inside and outside workers.
Mayor Eddie Francis says the city's top priority is to end the practice of those 1,300 workers banking unused sick days.
"Those 18 sick days a year are banked and are eligible to be banked every single year without a cap. And, as you can appreciate, long serving employees have a pretty significant bank of sick days available to them," Francis said.
Francis said the workers rarely use up all those days.
The union and the city exchange contract proposals later in September. The current agreements expire at the end of the year.
Negotiations between the city of Windsor and its workers start later this month.
Three years ago employees went on strike for 101 days, as the city fought to end post retirement benefits for new hires.
Francis hopes to avoid a labour disruption.
