Windsor's new professional basketball team is hoping the ball will be in its court when city council decides if taxpayers should fund the team's floor.
Council is expected to make a decision at a meeting Tuesday evening on whether to spend $125,000 on buying a basketball court for the Windsor Express.
The floor is needed so the professional team can play at the WFCU Centre.
Councillor Al Maghnieh wants a commitment from the team's management.
"Given the amount of investment that's necessary in the floor, it would be only fair to get a long-term commitment from the basketball team because we're going to spend money on installing a very expensive floor," said Maghnieh. "I understand it'll be offset by revenues that would come in but that's looking at a one-year plan."
The National Basketball League of Canada season begins in two months.
