Windsor city council is not ready to spend $125,000 on a new basketball floor.
The Windsor Express, a fledgling professional team in the National Basketball League of Canada, wants to play its home games at the WFCU Centre, which doesn't have a hardwood floor.
Coun. Ron Jones said there are a number of questions that need to be answered.
"I'm concerned about the structure of the league itself. I'm concerned about the distances. I'm concerned about sustainability. I'm going to ask for a deferral until this delegation can appear to answer questions," Jones said.
Team representatives were not available Monday night. They were at the 2012 NBL of Canada draft.
Last week, the team mass emailed its fans, pleading for them to show up at council Monday in an effort to sway council.
The court issue bounces back before council next month.

Council also deferred a decision on how best to deal with skunks.
It was expected to deal with a report that recommended more Herby Curby containers might keep the population from growing by keeping yard and organic waste out of reach.
Council deferred the issue at the request of the provincial Ministry of Natural Resources. It wanted a chance to send a representative to the meeting.
So, the discussion has been put off for three weeks.
