Windsor business owners want to see more retailers and more shoppers in the city.
Mayor Eddie Francis promised a retail development corporation in his State of the City address in April, but it's not complete.
The city's chief administrative officer said a draft plan is in the works but it's slow going.
In the meantime, some Windsor retailers are offering their own ideas of what they want to happen.
Paul Boyko owns Visions of Canada on Park Street and wants to see more people of all ages cruising the streets of downtown Windsor.
"If I had an opportunity I would like to bring something where a family, a husband and wife and two kids would say I want to come to downtown Windsor because there's a destination," said Boyko.
Danielle Perry co-owns Priced Green, a clothing store in Pillette Village.
She said she welcomes the idea of an entity to help retail shops in the city.
"In terms of our business we're actually opening up a children's section. So I think for us, if there was a retail development corporation, I could access them for information and help," said Perry.
"I think Pillette Village is growing and I think anything that can help in that direction is going to be good for the city," she said.
City staff are working on a report to present to the community first and then to council later this year.
