The Well-Come Centre is slowly getting back to normal after a sewer backup last week.
In an email, executive director Lady Laforet said she is to meet with an insurance adjuster Monday to determine the extent of the damage.
The Well-Come Centre provides emergency shelter to women experiencing homelessness.
The backup left the centre in need of food, towels and other items.
Laforet called the community support “amazing.”
The centre received $2,500, $700 in gift cards and room full of groceries.
Laforet said new shelves have been built, clean-up is complete and things will be put back in their place this week.
“This week brings new energy, new friends to the centre and the overwhelming sense that the community is investing themselves in the centre and the clients we serve,” Laforet said. “Many thank-yous are due and we will send them out this week to any donors who provided contact information.
“It’s so important to take the time to write a thank-you, it’s a lost art.”
CBC Windsor viewers, listeners and online visitors responded in a big way, filling the station's lobby with donations which will be dropped off at the centre this week.
