1,000 bikers arrive in Windsor for rally

Motorcycle enthusiasts from across North America are converging on Windsor.
More than 1,000 are here for the 24th Annual Ontario HOG Rally.
A pastor blessed the bikes and riders as part of opening ceremonies Thursday night.
Erie Street was closed so bikers and Windsorites could enjoy the city, Italian style.
This is the first year for the bike festival has been in Windsor.
"I'm looking forward to taking in this beautiful city called Windsor, Ontario," said Henry Geoffroy of Barrie. "I've been here before and I love it the waterfront here is fantastic and getting in some good rides and some good camaraderie amongst all the other hog owners."
Local bikers and organizers are hoping it goes well.
"If it's a successful bike fest this weekend, it will mean a yearly bike fest for Windsor every year," said local biker Marlene Fields.
"It's a lifestyle. It's getting together with people that have like wants and desires. You ride your motorcycle and enjoy yourself," said the event's co-chair Ron Van Mackleberg.
A party is scheduled at Festival Plaza on Friday. Saturday, the 1,000 bikes parade through Windsor.
Parking could be an issue, so the old bus depot has special parking for bikes.
Besides having fun, the bike riders are raising money for the Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment.
Mike Beale is a member of Delta Company with the regiment.
"They're giving these funds to Delta Company to ensure the soldiers returning are taken care of and their families are taken care of," Beale said.
