All 58 families at Trillium Court in LaSalle should be moved into new homes by the end of this weekend.
The publicly-subsidized townhouses near Windsor Crossing will soon be demolished to make room for the $1.4-billion Windsor-Essex Parkway.
Kevin DeVos is looking after the project for the Ministry of Transportation.
"We hired a local mover to come in and pack up all the homes, move them to the new site and assist them with unpacking, as well," DeVos said. "We just want to help people along and make this process as seamless as humanly possible."
The new homes are located about a kilometre away from the ones being vacated.
The Ministry of Transportation is demolishing the old townhouses in Trillium Court to make way for the new road. The ministry also built the new publicly-subsidized homes for the residents.
Kathie Woodward and her son have been in their new home for a week now.
"I absolutely love my new home, its beautiful," Woodward said. "We've got laminated floor, no carpet. Everything is high-energy efficient, new windows, beautiful bathroom. The house is absolutely beautiful."
Officials with the ministry said they've never relocated an entire community before. The cost of the move wasn't revealed.
