Windsor's unemployment rate is down slightly but it is still the highest in Canada.
The city's unemployment rate stands at 9.9 percent in May, down from 10.1.
Last month, 7,000 thousand new jobs were created across the country. The unemployment rate remained at 7.3 per cent, nationally.
Most economists had been expecting a slight cooling off in the month of May because of sharp growth the previous two months.
Meanwhile, there was a big jump in the number of new housing starts in the Windsor area in May.
Builders laid 73 foundations. That was up 38 per cent compared with May of last year.
Twenty-six of the new homes, including 10 townhouses, are in the city of Windsor.
Seventeen houses were started in Lakeshore; 16 in LaSalle; nine in Amherstburg; and five in Tecumseh.
