The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team has advanced to the Canadian university championship game.

The team won two games in Calgary on the weekend.

Head coach Chantal Vallee said one thing going for them is the fact they've been there before.

"I think experience is definitely key, in everything you do. We've been in that situation before, the girls in the final, and we're heading to a final for our third year in a row, and I think that having been there is definitely a plus for us," Vallee said.

Windsor plays the University of British Columbia for the championship tonight at 9 p.m. EST.

The Lancers advanced to the final with an 81-71 win over the Calgary Dinos on Sunday night. Miah-Marie Langlois led the team with 21 points and 6 rebounds.

Langlois said it wasn't easy to beat the Dinos in Calgary.

"You know, it's home court. They feel good. The crowd's on their side. It's emotional. We hosted the nationals last year. We know how it feels. They wanted to win, too," she said. "They had nothing to lose, so they just came out strong. I think if we weren't as experienced, the emotions would've got to us, and the crowd and all that, but we knew we had to play our game."

If the Lancers beat UBC, it will be their second consecutive national championship.
