One person is dead after a farm house caught fire in Chatham-Kent early Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out around 5 a.m. at 27057 Prince Albert Road, southeast of Wallaceburg. Fire crews from Tupperville, Wallaceburg and Dresden converged on the rural property.
"When we got there, there were literally flames coming out of windows and such," Chatham-Kent Fire Department's assistant chief Rick Scharf said. "The second floor, the upper level was non-existent. It had already collapsed in on itself. We didn't have a chance to enter the house. It was even difficult to see that it was a two-storey house. We had to be told it was a two-storey "
Damage is estimated at $150,000.
Chatham-Kent Police and the fire marshal have been called in to investigate.
The Chatham-Kent Fire Department did not release any information about the victim.
